After knowing what to drink to lose weight, comes
another question: are there ingenious ways to have a drink that could have an
impact on weight loss? Try these tips:
1. Stack up your fridge with small bottles of water. Since water is the safest liquid and most helpful in losing
weight, then you must have a lot of them near you. Having a cooler in in your
car, a portable cooler with you in the office or gym will keep you in the right
tract of the diet. Just keep them clean and chilled.
2. Flavour your water. Plain water
might be boring sometimes, so try giving them subtle flavours. This is not
turning them into juice but still water with a little something extra. A tinge
of mild flavour and not a load of sweetness and tang. If you happen to be
served with a pitcher of iced water with bits of lemon in restaurants, then
that is it. They have a term for this- Vitamin Water. Try some of these mixes:
· Mix 10 cups of cold water, 7 chopped
strawberries and/or raspberries, 12 finely chopped fresh mint leaves and 1 thinly
sliced lime
· Mix 10 cups of cold water, 3
thinly sliced oranges, 1 thinly sliced lime, 2 thinly sliced lemons, 1 thinly
sliced red grapefruit and 2 springs of thyme. Chill or add ice cubes.
· Mix 1 quart of water, 2 very
thinly sliced cucumbers, 1 thinly sliced lime, and dill or mint sprigs, or
borage flowers. Add ice cubes.
· Mix 10 cups of water, 1 cup of
watermelon cut into cubes, and 2 rosemary stems. Chill overnight.
3. Drink fruit juice in tall and thin glasses. It has been said that fresh fruit juices should be consumed in
moderation due to their sugar content, so much more with their packed
counterparts. Studies have shown that when someone uses a tall thin glass for a
drink, the tendency is to pour less liquid compared to a flat, wide glass. We
view taller glasses to contain more liquid than shorter but wider ones.
4. Limit your alcohol to 1 – 2 drinks, spread within a week. Needless to say that alcohol consumption is generally bad for
our health, and derails out diet. They sabotage the energy level, leaving us procrastinating
our daily exercise routines. They cause imbalances in our hormonal levels and
definitely affect our ability to take a good night sleep.
Does this
mean that our social life will diminish? That our God-given right to have fun
will be put in peril? It doesn’t necessarily have to be that way. There is this
thing they call, “drink moderately”. This will translate to a bottle of beer or
a glass of wine, taken every after 3 days. And if you prefer cocktails, then be
mindful of the things they mix with the drink.
Opt for a carb-free club soda with vodka rather than tonic water which
usually contain carbohydrates.
